I sometimes watch “The Housewives of Atlanta” and also watch their counterparts including the Orange County housewives and so on. Yesterday, I watched the season finale of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and I was mortified. Mortified because it was a reflection of me and I am not even kidding. Reflection of me with the exception of the street brawler Nene who choked her fellow cast mate, allegedly. However, her body language and general tone of voice tells me she is super cantankerous.
What I find stunning is the level of aggression exhibited by the Atlanta Housewives, with the exception of Kandi.
They say Stereotypes are in part based in truth so are more Black women generally more aggressive than other women?
I am a strong woman, however I cannot say whether I am aggressive by nature or if my aggression is fueled by anger because for the last NINE YEARS I have been violently and brutally criminalized by a felon, Eve Sharon Moore of the “Black Female Interracial Marriage blog” (Read more about this violent ongoing crimes being committed against me to date on my other blog “The Blind Spots of God” also here on WordPress). However to be honest, the women in my family are generally strong. Our parents stronglyyyyyy encouraged us to be that way.
My father frequently spoke about the importance of education, jobs and progress and encouraged us to pursue those things with vigor. Weakness was not rewarded or encouraged in my family.
PS: Speaking of “Real Housewives cast”– The cast of Real Housewives of NY make the case for better education and more depth in terms of things that matter– I rarely watch it because it is very predictable and the characters are the typical NY angry, cantankerous NY nouveau riche crowd… yawwwwn… however, I do like their “Orange County” counterparts. I think the women on Orange County show are pretty, free spirited, wealthy and for the most part strong!
Hmmm back to the “Real Housewives of Atlanta”—I can understand a woman like me being angry and furious because I have been targeted for the worst sort of criminality by an online felon who has barged into my life in the most VIOLENT way imaginable (crimes which continue to date!). However, a detective I once spoke with told me that he rarely came -across women who responded in anger to the acts of such vile criminals. Now in writing this, I wonder why???? The statistics for women who are stalked and violently tracked is not good. Many of these women appear to submit to the criminals and get physically hurt or killed.
From my research, most of the stalkers who got shot were shot by White women who owned guns, however, it does not share much about their Black counterparts who routed similar criminals. Self defense requires a fair amount of aggression and apparently some women are just more aggressive than others. In Stalking cases, White women generally appear more proactive in self protection while Black women who are stalked do not appear for the most part to instinctively protect themselves. Many Black women do not own guns even when they have been threatened or have cause to fear for their lives however, I think that aggressive Black women for the most part (with few exceptions) are not stalked by criminals.
Okay, this is my conclusion; In Nigeria, Cameroon, Kenya and South Africa, the Black women are less overtly aggressive. Even in Europe, the women of color seem to sing Kumbayaa day and night. In the USA, many Black women are plain and simply aggressive because of the society in which we live. They do not only have to deal with racism and sexism but in some cases the Black men do not pull their weight in the relationships resulting in many women becoming “Head of household”. Head of households in general tend to be more aggressive so many Black women who are forced into these roles are super aggressive which is a normal and expected result.
Black criminals mostly target other Black people and when women have to fend for themselves with all these issues at play, what you get is one angry set of no nonsense women. Seriously, I would be willing to wager that most people would rather “brawl” with Obama than Michelle because somehow I get the feeling she is not to be jerked around with… she will not stand for it. Anyone who says they cannot see that about Michelle Obama, good luck to them.
I have admitted that I am aggressive in part because I am very angry, furious in fact. Angry about the felon (s)– Eve Sharon Moore of the “Black Female Interracial Marriage Blog” –a felon who has attacked me in the most pernicious wicked manner imaginable for years and is still free to date (Read more by clicking>>> HERE). However, my cousins do not have the experience of being brutally criminalized yet they are super strong women infact one of them whose boyfriend assaulted her, pounded him with a baseball bat while calling the cops on the phone. Maybe aggressiveness is genetic, societal and related to the difficult environment which BLACK American women have to navigate to achieve success.
I think well channeled aggression is not bad so long as it is warranted; but Nene choking a cast member–”crickey” why was she not charged???
Well, excuse me while I get rid of my pent up aggression for the day. There is a punching bag at the GYM that has my name on it
